SUPER PANTHER III

  • A camera dolly
  • The super jib movement
  • Short, Accurate and Easily controlled tracking

The Super Panther III is a camera dolly that can run on track as well as free steer on studio floors. It has a motorised centre column that can be raised or lowered whilst taking a shot – this is called a jib movement. It can be combined with a tracking shot to give you camera movement along 2 axes.

The super jib movement is controlled by a remote unit that can be clipped onto the pan handle of the camera, thereby giving the Camera operator the jib control if he needs it. There are 2 adaptors available with the dolly. There is a low rig that enables the camera to be lowered to just above track level. There is also a sliding U-bangi, which is a device that fits onto the dolly & enables the camera operator to make short, accurate and easily controlled tracking & swinging movements.

Unlike similar pedestal-type dollies, the Panther dolly lifts the camera operator up and down along with the camera maintaining a constant relationship between the camera operator and the viewfinder. On a Panther, the camera operator can concentrate on operating and not “chasing the camera.” This feature alone makes the Panther stand out among the pack.

PANTHER stands for camera support systems such as camera cranes and dollies etc. Panther also means tradition, experience, know-how and perfection. The PANTHER head quarters in Oberhaching near Munich (Germany) has already more than 70 employees, and there are subsidiaries in Hamburg (Germany), Prague (Czech Republic) and Poland. The innovative strength of PANTHER and the high quality of their products influenced the whole film industry in the early 80s. Being the first and most popular electromechanical dolly in the world, the SUPER PANTHER II dolly was given a “Scientific and Engineering Award” in 1990 in Hollywood. Today the Evolution dolly is its technical follow up.

CINETECH ITALIANA (HAWK)

SUPER HAWK II today is the best dolly for professional filmmakers. Characterized by great stability, manoeuvrability, manageability and versatility, it requires the absolute minimum of maintenance. Engineered and designed with the latest technology in structural materials and surface finishes, tested thoroughly to ensure an accurate and reliable operation. The SUPER HAWK II dolly is very resistant so guarantees its performance under every environmental condition. The dolly can be equipped with two different types of wheels; the standard wheel of selected hardness may be used directly on the studio floor, or on any standard track; and mixed wheel incorporating the standard wheel along with an inflated rubber wheel, excellent flexibility and performance when used on whatever surface even if it is not completely smooth.

Steering mode can be quickly changed from four wheel “CRAB” operation, into “ROUND” four-wheel steering and two wheel “CONVENTIONAL” operation or vice versa by simply twisting the steering bar handle. A very high tech gears steering is located between the rear wheels to facilitate this operation in the “ROUND” mode, avoiding friction. The steering column can be removed by unscrewing the threaded base ring and the transmission shaft. A simple release device, at the base of the column, locks the steering facilitating realignment of the wheels when this is necessary. The steering box is a gear-base one, so there is no need for adjustment of the chains.

The dolly’s vertical lift maintains precise camera alignment during the whole run of the arm. It is possible to mount the 90° Accessory plate on the mounting plate, so the operator can work in a very low positions. Pressure accumulator may be recharged manually (by removing the control bar and inserting it in the manual pump and pumping), or electrically (the pump motor is connected to the main power by a supplied cable and activated by an ON/OFF switch). The motor automatically stops when it reaches the preselected pressure. A special device, in both cases, prevents any damage by over pressurizing.

The dolly is equipped with a new kind of piston that embodies an end run “dashpot”.

HAWK EVOLUTION DOLLY

As the largest camera dolly in our family, Super Hawk Evolution is a reliable, sturdy model, perfect for both indoor and outdoor use.

The vertical lift maintains a precise camera alignment throughout the whole arm movement. In this way, vertical moves are smooth and repeatable with precise starts and stops. The boom arm has a lifting capacity on the head of 90kg (198 lbs) and can lift two people of approximately 100 kg each, who can sit on designated seats on the arm.

FRAZER MARK II

The ever-so-flexible Fraser MKII dolly is an innovative multipurpose dolly system. With over six different configurations, a scene will never be limited by its capabilities. Fluid moves with the arm are super smooth. The turret and jib arm can be removed intact allowing the assembly to be used on 16 inch slimline track, staircases and any other tight spot. The chassis may be used without the turret/jib assembly which enables 360 degree pans. This mode reduces the weight by 40% for fast tracking shots. If you need to shoot at a lower angle you can undersling a multiaxis head. The jib arm can be charged via the included 24 volt dc battery in only 90 seconds. A full charge delivers seven lifts of the 500 pound capacity arm. The jib control is on an umbilical allowing it to be operated up to 3 feet away from the chassis. Overall width 27 inches, overall length including jib 65 inches, overall height 15 inches, height of steering handle 22 inches, minimum nose mount height 2 inches, reach off side (at 90 degrees) 23 inches, chassis weight 200 pounds, turret weight 198 pounds. For package details give us a call and we can custom fit a setup that is right for your needs. Skateboards

SQUIRREL DOLLY

  • Faster Acceleration
  • Dynamic Movement
  • Smoother Long Lens Operation

A 24 wheel Skateboard dolly – Quick setup in difficult locations, 2 wheel banks on floating bushes allowing very smooth shots on curved tracks. Much sturdier than conventional skateboard dollies. The Squirrel is a uniquely designed, high speed, low profile, multi-purpose dolly. Its lightweight, corrosion resistant, aluminium construction allows it to be carried single handedly to difficult locations.

Multiple attachment points take any of the standard range of grips equipment for the ultimate versatility of camera set-ups. Special bridge rails enable the Squirrel to carry the heaviest Chapman or Fisher dollies, loaded with crew and accessories. What sets the Squirrel apart, is that it was designed to meet the cutting edge requirements of top end productions, for faster acceleration and more dynamic movement, with smoother long lens operation. The high tech wheel configuration and staggered geometry deliver every time.

MATTHEWS SKATEBOARD aka CENTEPEDE

This highly powerful upgrade to the popular heavy-duty, 32-wheeled camera support dolly, the CENTIPEDE II system features ‘split’ carriages that ensure even smoother tracking and contact on curved track. Instead of four carriages with eight wheels it, the CENTIPEDE features 8 carriages with four wheels each. Splitting the large carriages into two smaller carriages allows each individual carriage to pivot quicker and more precisely to accommodate the changing radiuses of curved track layouts. The durometer or hardness of the wheels of the CENTIPEDE are also harder than the original and will result in reduced flat spots that may occur after.

Platform Dolly Systems

WESTERN DOLLY

  • Turret Assembly Compatible
  • Maximum Capacity of 1200 lbs. (544kg.)
  • Tire Pressure 16-22 lbs.

Matthews’ dollies are industry standard camera and equipment tucking platforms. Their Western Dolly is no exception. It sports a heavier duty platform than the Doorway Dolly, with a maximum capacity of 1200 lbs. (544 kg.). The wider and longer platform, wider tires, and extended wheelbase provide a significantly smoother ride. A turret assembly is available, providing a two-seat with complete camera configuration. The pop-off wheels allow for quick removal and easy storage. An outstanding feature of the Western Dolly is the strength of the Matthews axle. On this dolly, the capacity of each axle equals the total capacity of the dolly. Field observation has concluded that a Matthews Western Dolly stands apart from its competitors because it is the strongest dolly of its type in the business. Whether the Western Dolly is used for equipment transportation or a camera platform, it delivers a reliable, steady ride at a reasonable price.
